The Most Remarkable Highlights of Amman in Jordan

Amman is the capital of the Jordanian Kingdom and its largest city. With a population that exceeds 5 million inhabitants, Amman, in comparison to many other cities in the Middle East, was mainly established during the 20th century. Almost all travel packages to Jordan include a visit to Amman for a day or two.

There are many places to explore and several interesting activities to carry out in Amman. However, we would be highlighting some of the monuments tourists who visit Jordan should never miss during their trip to the city.

With its distinctive location, situated over one of the highest hills of the city, the Amman Citadel is a magnificent historical site. Inhabited since ancient times, there are many sections to explore in the Amman Citadel. The most remarkable are the Roman Temple of Hercules and the Palace that dates back to the Ummayads’ ruling period.

There is also the Jordan Museum which illustrates many aspects about the Jordanian history and heritage. Among the most interesting displays, there is the most ancient statue that survived until today, the plaster made Ain Ghazal. This is in addition to many antiquities found in Petra and various locations around Jordan.
