Heidelberg Castle

The Heidelberg Castle is in fact one of the most important and impressive buildings erected in the Renaissance period in Europe. Today it is one of the popular landmarks commonly visited by tourists who travel to Germany.

Historical records assert that the first structures to be erected in this location date to the beginning of the 13th century. Afterwards, during the 16th century, the complex expanded into two large castles. In fact, however, the current castle was built in 1650 before fire largely damaged around the middle of the 18th century.

The most popular features of the Heidelberg Castle include some original texts of Goethe, the Rondells, the Heidelberg Old Town and Old Bridge, many chambers, towers, and much more.
