Day By Day Itinerary
DAY 1: Departure from USA

  • Depart the USA for Lviv in Ukraine. Your international flight includes meals, drinks, and in-flight entertainment
DAY 2: Arrive in Lviv

  • Arrival in the Danylo Galytski airport in Lviv.
  • Customs formalities.
  • Transfer to the hotel. Check-in after 2 pm.
  • A walking guided city-tour. You will admire the rich architecture of Lviv that reflects, like in a mirror, almost all the stylistic tendencies of the European art of the 13 - 18th centuries - gothic, baroque, renaissance, neoclassic.
  • Welcoming dinner. Traditional cuisine.

DAY 3: Lviv City Tour

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Departure by foot for an excursion in the old part of the city, visit of the medieval part of the city (world patrimony of UNESCO), visits of the admirable cathedrals : Latin (Сatholic), the Armenian cathedral, and the ensemble of the Ortрodox church of Assumption (1591), with a Renaissance clocher and Korniakta tower (1578).
  • Visit of the Museum of Pinzel. Lunch in the city.
  • Visit the National Museum, with its rich expositions of icons, dated to the 14th and 17th centuries, the decorative and popular art.
  • Visit to the market of souvenirs and paintings.

DAY 4: Full Day Lviv

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Visit to the history museum, Royal Palace of Jan Sobieski, King of Poland, one of the most ancient museums in Ukraine. A small coffee-break.
  • Lunch in the medieval part of the city in an ancient Armenian district.
  • Youll visit the Market Square, and also the Pharmacist Museum that is situated right there and is a drugstore today, that was established in 1672. Degustation of the magic potion.
  • Visit of the Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Lviv, one of the most beautiful theatres in Europe, that is a point of pride of the city. This building has rich exterior decoration and possesses luxurious interior.
  • Dinner at the local restaurant.

DAY 5: Lviv - Chernivtsi

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Departure to see the open-spaced Ethnographical Museum, a charming reconstruction of the natural decor of country life of the period of XVth - the beginning of XXth.
  • Lunch in a village not far from Lviv, visit of a typical Ukrainian village market, acquaintance with the country customs and traditions (for 3-4 pax and more).
  • Degustation of different kinds of gorilka (vodka) and local specialities, accompanied by music.
  • Masterclass of painting on the glass, art of pyssanka.
  • Return to Lviv.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant or with meal-boxes in the train.
  • Transfer to the railway station.
  • Departure to Chernivtsi.

DAY 6: Chernivtsi - Kamianets Podilskyi

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Guided city-tour.: Chernivtsi is the capital of the Northern Bukovina, the passage territory in the North of Carpathian Mountains. This strategical city had been a subject of disputes of authorities for their influence in the region for many times in history. One century and a half of the absence of Moscow domination helped Chernivtsi to keep its charming atmosphere of cosmopolitan city of Central Europe. Being rich in the past, the city preserved a large variety of architectual styles, from Byzantine to Baroque, and the elegant streets of its old district that are bordered by big buildings with their vine-shrouded facades. The yards in Chernivtsi are made in a very different style and remind ottoman architecture with their wooden balconies and covered steps.

  • Discovery of the central part of the city with its impressive redbrick University, the amazing Theatre of Art constructed in the XIXth century by the architects - Foellner et Goellner, The St-Nicolas church with its turquoise domes, The Armenian Saint Spirit Cathedral, the residence of metropolites of Bukovina and Dalmatia.
  • The main pedestrian street of the city is lined by trees and counts many shops, cafes and restaurants. The Armenian Cathedral is constructed in the middle of the XIXth century in the ancient Armenian style. The interior is carefully painted and has the extraordinary acoustics for organ. Going up the street, youll come the ancien city square, surrounded with beautiful buidings of the XIXth century.
  • Departure to Kamianets-Podilskyi.
  • Dinner at the local residents in a village on the way to Kamianets- Podilskyi. Tasting of Ukrainian home-made cuisine.

DAY 7: Kamianets Podilskyi - Khotyn

  • Kamianets-Podilskyi is situated on the cross-roads of Europe and thats why during one thousand years this city had been in contact with different cultures and was also a fortress near the border, that was always the reason of struggle between East and West. The first fortifications appeared here during the age of Kyivskaya Rus.
  • The city got a rapid development as it had become an important commercial craft central, the main competitor of Lviv and Kyiv. The incredible quantity (170) of magnificent historical and cultural monuments of the period of XI - XIXth centuries is centred in the Old city, that is a strong argument to inscribe the city in the List of world patromony of UNESCO.
  • Kamianets-Podilskyi is the museum city with its rich history and architectual heritage that is under the protection of UNESCO &ndash the fortress of the Feodal age, the Armenien bastion of XVI-XVII centuries, the Turkish minaret, Ratusha of XVII-XVIII centuries.
  • Visit of the city beginning with the castle place, the paved side-streets lead to the Armenian district, that groups many churches of the XVth century around the market square dated the XIVth century. From the North-West corner of this square you have the access to the Pierre-and-Paul Cathedral of 1580 going through the Triumphal Gate, the Dominican monastery with its big clocher decorated with fretwork. Lunch in the city.
  • Departure to visit Khotyn.
  • Khotyn is famous for its fortress of the XII-XVIth centuries, that had been one of the main points of defence of the coutry. It was constructed by the Ukrainian prince Volodymyr the Great on the hills of the banks of Dniester.
  • Return to Kamianets-Podilskyi.
  • Surprise Dinner, meeting with a welcoming Ukrainian family.

DAY 8: Kamianets Podilskyi -Bakota

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Departure in the Podilskyi National Park - Tovtry, The admirable landscapes of canyon, formed in the Tovtry by the Dniester River, strikes the imagination.
  • The famous village Bakota is one of the most charming places of this reserve. Visit to the troglodyte monastery of Bakota.

DAY 9: Kolomyia Yaremche

  • Breakfast at a hotel.
  • Departure by car to discover the country of Hutsul. The people of Hutsul has always been independant, bellicose, resistant to all the occupations including the one of the URSS. The mountain people of herdsmen and woodcutters that has developped an original culture, the crossbreed religion of paganism, the colourful costumes that they wear for official events, songs, dances, literature and very rich manual crafts, created during the deep winters.
  • Visit to the town of Kolomyia, recently there was a museum of painted eggs constructed in Kolomyia, that represents an ancestral tradition of this region. Lunch in the city.
  • Visit to the Museum of Hutsul Popular Art and the Museum of Pysanka (eggs with a rich hand-made decoration).
  • Visit to Yaremche village, famous for its artisanal market.

DAY 10: Ivano Frankivsk Full Day

  • Breakfast at a hotel. Departure to Ivano-Frankivsk.
  • Ivano-Frankivsk, a cosy place that represents the beautiful baroque ensemble of houses with their pastel colours of Austrian style inspiration. During its golden age Ivano- Frankivsk was a big commercial and craft centre and attracted the residents of different nationalities. At this period the most numerous communities were those of Jewish, Armenian and Poland people. The multinationalism of the city has given the reflection to its aspect: Ivano-Frankivsk was decorated with the architectural constructions of different styles that gave the exceptional charm to this city.
