Spend a day exploring the historical highlights of Hiroshima and discovering the idyllic Miyajima Island on this tour from Osaka. Depart from Shin-Osaka station on board the bullet train for your ride to Hiroshima. Upon arrival, visit the Hiroshima Memorial Park, a historical site near where the atomic bomb exploded. See exhibitions that show the carnal destruction the bomb caused and marvel at how the city recovered. Take a moment to reflect on the heartbreaking history of the region. Continue to the iconic Atomic Bomb Dome (Genbaku Dome), a structure that miraculously survived the 1945 attack. Arrive at the exquisite Todai-ji Temple, one of the world’s largest wooden structures and home of the impressive Great Buddha bronze statue, rising over 50 feet high. You then continue to Nara Park to see the over 1,000 tame deer roaming freely in the peaceful park. Full Day Mt. Fuji & Hakone with lunch
Enjoy a full day tour to Mt. Fuji and Hakone, the most famous National Park and resort area in Japan. Set amidst the scenic volcanic mountains and wooded forests of Mt. Fujis Five Lakes region on Lake Ashi, Hakone is renowned for its hot springs, outdoor sports, and natural beauty. Drive halfway up Mt. Fuji to the Fifth Station where, depending upon the weather, you will enjoy panoramic views of the park and lake below. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant nearby. Afterwards, drive to Hakone for a relaxing cruise on Lake Ashi. After your cruise, ride an aerial cableway up and down Mt. Komagatake for sweeping views of the surrounding scenery (time and weather permitting). Return to Tokyo via deluxe motorcoach. (L). Full Day Nikko Tour with lunch
Enjoy a full day tour to Nikko, a small historical city at the entrance of Nikko National Park. This UNESCO World Heritage Site served as a center for Shinto and Buddhist mountain worship for centuries. Nikko is home to several temples and shrines, including the Futarasan shrine and the Rinnoji Temple. Visit the Toshogu Shrine, the mausoleum of the first Tokugawa Shogun, a gorgeous complex of colorful structures featuring the superb craftsmanship of Japans 17th-century artisans. Stop for an authentic Japanese-style lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, enjoy a scenic motorcoach ride up the mountain via the hairpin turns of the Irohazaka Driveway. Begin your tour with a visit to the Hokokuji Temple, located in the hills of eastern Kamakura, known for its beautiful bamboo grove found behind the main hall. A short walk leads you to Jomyoji Temple, ranked fifth among the five great Zen temples of Kamakura. Continue to Kotoku-in Temple, housing the famous 43 foot high Great Buddha bronze statue, one of the most iconic landmarks in Japan. Learn about its history and significance dating back to 1292.
