Piazza San Marco in Italy

The Piazza San Marco or the Square of Saint Mark is one of the most popular and central squares in Venice, this distinctive floating city of Italy. Considered the political and cultural hub of Venice, many tourists who travel to Italy would visit Venice for its marvelous nature and wonderful monuments.

One of the most remarkable monuments of the Piazza San Marco is surely the Church of Saint Mark. The façade of the church is featured with its notable arches and ornaments and the four horses flanking the square.

There is also the Piazzetta dei Leoncini, an open courtyard decorated with marble. Established at the beginning of the 18th century, this open space hosts the seat of the Patriarch of Venice. Many tourists who spend their vacations in Italy would pay Venice and the square a visit as part of their tour of the city.

The Clock Tower is another marvelous monument of Piazza San Marco. Founded at the end of the 15th century, there are many touristic shops located beyond the tower. There is also the Church of Saint Basso that was established in 1675.
